Framework alignment
Built around the frameworks you answer to
ClearPath Catalyst is aligned to NAM, NCQA, Joint Commission and CMS frameworks, including ACA §1557. One shapes where you start. The rest live in one checklist.
Where you start
The self-assessment maps to NAM's Ten Attributes of a Health Literate Organization. You get a baseline score for each attribute and a ranked list of gaps.
What you track · Stage 7 · Comply
- Joint Commission
- NCQA
- CMS
- ACA §1557
- CLAS standards
- State rules
Illustrative · synthetic rows. Evidence and notes attach to each requirement; each gap gets an owner and a due date.
Alignment is our mapping to their published guidance, not an endorsement by those organizations.
How it works
Step 1: Assess and plan
Start from where your content and teams stand today, and set the standards you will hold to.
Step 2: Train and fix
Staff build skills while the platform fixes the content they already send.
Step 3: Track and deploy
Dashboards show readability, approvals and editing time across the organization.
Nine stages, in order
ClearPath Catalyst stages, from Assess to Deploy.
Stage 1 of 9
Assess · Organizational assessment
Find out where your organization stands on health literacy today.
What happens
- Answer a self-assessment mapped to NAM's Ten Attributes of a Health Literate Organization.
- Score a sample of the materials you send now for reading grade and PEMAT.
- See the gaps by attribute, ranked by what to fix first.
- What you have at the end
- A baseline score for each of the ten attributes and a ranked list of gaps.
- Who takes part
- An executive sponsor, quality and patient-experience leads, and department heads.
Stage 2 of 9
Plan · Implementation planning
Turn the gaps into a plan with goals, owners and dates.
What happens
- Set goals tied to the gaps the assessment found.
- Lay out five phases (mobilize, assess, build, execute and sustain) with milestones and an owner for each.
- Try each change in small Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles before you roll it out.
- What you have at the end
- A phased plan with measurable goals, milestones and named owners.
- Who takes part
- The executive sponsor, the program lead and your quality improvement team.
Stage 3 of 9
Govern · Governance
Give clear communication an owner, a policy and a regular review.
What happens
- Set up a steering committee and a network of champions in each department.
- Write the standards everyone follows: reading-grade targets, glossary terms and brand voice.
- Report progress to leaders and the board on a set schedule.
- What you have at the end
- Named roles, written policies and standards, and a reporting schedule.
- Who takes part
- Executives, committee members, department champions and compliance.
Stage 4 of 9
Train · Training and development
Build clear-communication skills across your workforce.
What happens
- Assign short ClearComm Academy lessons by role and department.
- Practice teach-back with simulated patients in the Teach-Back simulator, with coaching after every turn.
- Track who has finished each program, by department.
- What you have at the end
- Staff trained for their role, with progress tracked by department.
- Who takes part
- Educators, managers, champions and frontline staff.
Stage 5 of 9
Content · Content standards
Bring the materials people read up to your standards.
What happens
- Score each material against your targets: reading grade and PEMAT understandability and actionability.
- Revise what falls short. A reviewer approves each change.
- Keep approved materials and templates in one library.
- What you have at the end
- A library of scored, approved materials and templates.
- Who takes part
- Writers, editors, clinical reviewers and communications teams.
Stage 6 of 9
Change · Change management
Make clear communication the normal way your teams work.
What happens
- Follow a step-by-step change model (Kotter's eight steps), from a shared reason to lasting habits.
- Map stakeholders by influence and interest, and plan who hears what, and when.
- Share quick wins and recognize your champions.
- What you have at the end
- A communication plan, engaged stakeholders and a record of early wins.
- Who takes part
- A change lead, communications, managers and champions.
Stage 7 of 9
Comply · Regulatory compliance
Keep evidence ready for the standards and rules you answer to.
What happens
- Track requirements mapped from Joint Commission, CMS, NCQA, ACA §1557, the CLAS standards and state rules in one checklist.
- Attach evidence and notes to each requirement, and mark it met, partly met or not met.
- Assign an action item and a due date to each gap.
- What you have at the end
- A requirement-by-requirement checklist with evidence attached and each gap assigned. The mapping is ours, based on published guidance, not an endorsement.
- Who takes part
- Compliance, accreditation and quality leads, and legal.
Stage 8 of 9
Analytics · Outcomes and analytics
Show what changed, with every number labeled.
What happens
- Watch dashboards for reading grade, approvals and editing time across teams.
- Add the outcome measures you choose, from your own data.
- Build a business case in ROI Center. Each value is labeled Measured, Modelled or Projected.
- What you have at the end
- Dashboards and a business case built on your own numbers, with each source labeled.
- Who takes part
- The executive sponsor, quality, finance and analytics teams.
Stage 9 of 9
Deploy · Patient and member deployment
Put clear materials in front of patients and members, in their language.
What happens
- Send approved materials to the channels people use: print, web, portal, text and email.
- Translate approved materials. A human translator handles text where a dose, number or "do not" could be lost.
- Check signs, forms and navigation aids so people can find their way.
- What you have at the end
- Approved materials in each channel and language, with a review record for each one.
- Who takes part
- Communications, patient-experience, language-services and digital teams.
