For VP Quality and HEDIS leads

Most HEDIS gaps close only when a member does one thing. Does your letter ask for one thing?

Measurement year 2026 closes on December 31, and outreach for 2027, which feeds the 2029 Star Ratings, is being written now. A letter that asks for five things makes the one that counts harder to find. HealthLiteracyCopilot checks each outreach letter for one clear ask, in English and Spanish, and scores how easy it is to act on (PEMAT).

What we fix

A screening letter with one ask

  • One request, stated first.
  • Kit steps numbered in the order people do them.
  • Your own gap-closure data shows what changes.

Illustrative example.

Measures this work supports

  • HEDIS: screening and chronic-care gap closure.
  • CAHPS: Getting Needed Care, Care Coordination and Rating of Health Plan.

A letter is one lever. Your own gap-closure data shows what it adds.

The documents we review first

  • FIT and colorectal-screening kit letters
  • Gap-in-care outreach
  • Care-coordination letters

Prove it on your own members

Split your next gap mailing, for example colorectal screening. Half your members get today's letter, half get the one-ask version your reviewers approved. Same envelope, timing and channels. From a 30% baseline, about 3,800 members in each group can detect a 3-point difference.

Before it starts, you pick the measure (gaps closed within 90 days, from your claims and supplemental data) and write the rule that decides, such as "expand if the revised group does better and the 95% interval excludes zero." No lift is promised. Your data decides, not ours.

We work from templates only. Your members' data stays with you.

Questions

Can better member letters improve CAHPS scores?

CAHPS asks members whether they got needed care, understood their plan and found forms easy. Letters shape each of those experiences. HealthLiteracyCopilot doesn't promise a score change. It finds the notices most likely to cause confusion. Then you can split a mailing and let your own data show what changed.

Do you need member PHI?

No. A review uses your template library: blank or sample notices. No member data is needed.
